Uses. Xylenes is used as a solvent in the manufacturing of chemicals, agricultural sprays, adhesives and coatings, as an ingredient in aviation fuel and gasoline, and as a feedstock in manufacturing various polymers, phthalic anhydride, isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, and dimethyl terephthalate.
Application
It is primarily used as a solvent (a liquid that can dissolve other substances) in the printing, rubber, and leather industries. Along with other solvents, xylene is also widely used as a cleaning agent, a thinner for paint, and in varnishes.
