Sodium chloride, also known as salt, common salt, table salt or halite, is an ionic compound with the chemical formula NaCl, representing equal proportions of sodium and chlorine. Sodium chloride is the salt most responsible for the salinity of the ocean and of the extracellular fluid of many multicellular organisms.
Application
Sodium chloride is the chemical name for salt. Sodium is an electrolyte that regulates the amount of water in your body. Sodium also plays a part in nerve impulses and muscle contractions.
Dosage
This sterile saline solution is used to wash, flush, or rinse parts of the body (e.g., wounds) or medical supplies/equipment (e.g., dressings, catheters, drainage tubes). This product may also be mixed with other medications (e.g., neomycin/polymyxin B) to prepare a solution to flush/rinse parts of the body.
