Magnesium chloride and salt lower the freezing point of water and, when sprayed onto roads before a storm, helps to prevent snow from sticking and ice from forming.
Application
Magnesium chloride hexahydrate is used as catalyst for organic synthesis, e.g. 3,4‐Dihydropyrimidin‐2‐(1H)‐one. Magnesium chloride hexahydrate is also a promising heat/thermal storage material.
