Isobutanol is a colourless liquid with a characteristic smell of alcohol. Isobutanol has good oil and fat solvent properties and is used as an additive to most mixed solvents. It is also used in manufacturing paints and nitrocellulose lacquers, isobutyl acetate and plasticisers, phenol formaldehyde resins, lubricant additives and aramid fibres.
Application
Isobutanol is used as a raw material for coating resins, Isobutyl acrylate, isobutyl acetate, isobutyl methacrylate, and paint thinners. On the other hand, it is widely used as a solvent because many organic materials are soluble in it.
