CASEIN SOLUBLE IN ALKALI

Casein is soluble in alkaline pH as it forms sodium caseinate.
Some people have used a solution of sodium or ammonium hydroxide.
If you use a buffer at pH 8, it may help.
Application
Alkali-Soluble Casein is a superior blocking reagent for Western blot applications. This preparation minimizes non-specific background relative to other blocking reagents, such as BSA, gelatin, or non-fat milk. Alkali-Soluble Casein is effective in colorimetric and chemiluminescent detection protocols.
Dosage
doses of 5 to 10 c c of whole milk containing 0.15 to 0.30 gm.
