Capric acid is used in the manufacture of esters for artificial fruit flavors and perfumes.
It is also used as an intermediate in chemical syntheses.
It is used in organic synthesis and industrially in the manufacture of perfumes, lubricants, greases, rubber,
dyes, plastics, food additives and pharmaceuticals.
Application
The mixture of 65 mol% capric acid and 35 mol% lauric acid (C–L acid) is a potential latent heat storage material. However, its melting temperature of is quite high for low-temperature thermal energy storage. Addition of pentadecane, with a melting point of , is proposed .
