Calcium carbonate is a calcium salt with formula CCaO3. It has a role as an antacid, a food colouring, a food firming agent and a fertilizer. It is a calcium salt, a carbonate salt and a one-carbon compound.
Application
Calcium carbonate is the active ingredient in agricultural lime and is created when calcium ions in hard water react with carbonate ions to create limescale. It is medicinally used as a calcium supplement or as an antacid, but excessive consumption can be hazardous.
Dosage
Calcium carbonate should be taken with food. Stomach acid produced while eating helps your body absorb calcium carbonate. Total daily dose. Calcium is best absorbed when it's taken in smaller doses (typically less than 600 milligrams at one time).
