Calcium hypochlorite is an inorganic compound with formula Ca(ClO)2. It is the main active ingredient of commercial products called bleaching powder, chlorine powder, or chlorinated lime, used for water treatment and as a bleaching agents.
Application
1) It is used for bleaching dirty clothes in the laundry, as a bleaching agent for cotton and linen in the textile industry.
2) It is a strong oxidizing agent hence used as an oxidizer in many industries.
3) It is used as a disinfectant which is used for disinfecting water to make potable water.
Dosage
concentration of chlorine than ordinary bleaching powder - typically 65 to 70 predictable rate, enabling addition of a measured dose to a water supply.
